I'm a freelance meteorologist with more than 10 years of on-air experience. Currently, I'm a meteorologist at WJZ in Baltimore, Maryland. You can also read my weekly forecast discussions for the Capital Weather Gang in The Washington Post. I've also freelanced for WPXI in Pittsburgh, Pa., and WPMT in York, Pa.
Career Beginnings
My career in broadcast meteorology started at AccuWeather in State College, Pa. During my time at AccuWeather, I had the opportunity to broadcast for clients all over the world. My forecasts have been featured on The AccuWeather Network Channel, MSNBC, ABC World News Now, Big Ten Network, FOX News, among many others.
After working at AccuWeather, I went on to work as a reporter/meteorologist for WJLA in Washington, D.C. In this role, I had the opportunity to report for the award-winning morning show, "Good Morning Washington," and co-host "Let's Talk Live" on NewsChannel8. My love for science education grew in this role by attending many school visits through the stations LunchBox Weather Program. I had the opportunity to teach young children about the weather.
Education
My passion for weather developed after riding out Hurricane Charley in Myrtle Beach in 2004. A trip to Penn State's weather camp was a dream come true for a young meteorologist. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd actually become a meteorologist. My love for Penn State, which started at Weather Camp, continued to grow as an undergraduate student. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from Penn State in 2013. I went on to earn a Master of Science in Applied Meteorology from Mississippi State in 2016.
This fall I will continue my education as a doctoral student in the Earth and Planetary Science program at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. My research interests include science & climate communication and education with a focus on environmental justice issues.
